Permissions
What are Permissions?
As the name suggests, Permissions allow Users permission to add, delete,
view, and/or edit information in the EasyIEPTM database.
Why are permissions needed?
EasyIEPTM is designed to save teachers and administrators
time by reducing IEP paperwork. To allow EasyIEPTM
to “fit” a School System's policies and procedures, permission to access and
modify particular information must be controlled. EasyIEPTM
permissions are used to give a School System the flexibility to match current
access to information with access via EasyIEPTM.
The permission categories used by EasyIEPTM are:
Assigning permissions to individual Users would be time consuming, error
prone, and burdensome. EasyIEPTM assigns each user a User Type.
Permissions are assigned to the User Type.
Users may have students assigned to them. Students are generally
assigned to their special education teacher. This allows for the
assigned students to appear on the teachers list of students (case load).
Students are generally assigned to a school. Users may also be assigned
to schools. These assignments are important because they control
permission to access and modify student data.
Often it is desirable to limit a permission to a single part of the
School System. For example, a School System may want to give school
administrators permission to view and edit personal information for students
in their school, but not in other schools. Permission extent allows
the scope or extend of the permission to be controlled. The table
below shows each permission category, its permission extents, and a explanation.
Modifying permissions are done by PCG Inc. software
specialists. PCG Inc. will discuss the current School System organization
and recommend permission settings. Nothing is “set in stone.”
If a system finds that modification of the permission is required, then
these will be made at no charge.
